Here exclusively online is the legendary EBN album “Telecommunication Breakdown“originally released by TVT in 1995. The release was original mainly CD Audio only at the time as general release formats didn’t allow for an AV album. All the visuals were made at the same time, basically the the visuals is the music and here for the first time is all the video album in one place::::::

Lance Blisters

Lance Blisters performs live breakcore, jungle and punk music with tightly synchronized visuals for each song. Geoff Matters (vocals and MIDI guitar) and Ilan Katin (visuals) — and occasionally yours truly filling in for Ilan — put on an overwhelmingly intense, exciting show, and have played all over NYC and Europe since 2003. Check out the video below and more recordings at LanceBlisters.com. Lance plays his MIDI guitar to trigger and manipulate audio in custom, open source software (GDAM) running on a laptop. The laptop also passes on the MIDI to Ilan’s or my laptop running Modul8, which has custom modules to trigger and sync the video.

Just Add Music

So we’ve been talking about Jay J’s JUST ADD MUSIC software. Check out the below televis.es player which features videos made with Just Add Music and Ableton 7.0 beta. The Televis.es player features a playlist function so click on the menu button and you can flick through videos to your hearts content.

Just Add Music acts as a plugin for Ableton but is also in development as a plugin for many other audio/video software. It allows you to apply video effects simultaneously with Ableton audio effects and also mix multiscreen video (see previous post with Jay J cutting up 4 videos and camera feed live and remixing it).I did three video lessons : ONE TWO THREE for the Crossfader website in which I go over the basics of cutting and beatmapping video clips in Sony Vegas and also performing live AV on two Pioneer DVJs and Pioneer Midi Mixer. This technique was first shown to us by Coldcut/Sleepy Tom who built their own midi mixers by turning the voltage CV Gate signal in old Pioneer mixers to send midi. Also recently been working with Tony Verderosa on a Midi Controlled Video Drum Kit project using Coldcut/Camart’s VJAMM software. As result was checking out Paul Peterson who is doing a similar thing. Must also mention the excellent work of the legendary EBOMAN who has been doing AV for years and building amazing live performance interfaces like a motion glove he scratches with, check his excellent site and videos.

Emergency Broadcast Network (EBN) were making video remixes back in the early 1990’s. They started out by remixing TV and ended up by touring the world with U2 and releasing an original Audio-Visual album. EBN were the AV Pioneers who heavily influenced Hexstatic & Coldcut to go on and create the Audio-Visual piece timber which went on to inspire the next generation of AV artists. Check the EBN myspace page and also this vid:

If you like that check the EBN Documercial and various EBN vids around the web.
